New Allegiant Trailer

New Allegiant trailer has been released!!

From what I've heard, the Allegiant book wasn't that good but that won't stop me from checking this movie out. I haven't read the book because I've heard it's bad but I want to finish watching the movies to know what happens.

Allegiant Trailer

The first trailer for Allegiant has been released!

So I haven't read the book because everyone I've talked to that has, encouraged me not to. They all said the same thing--that Veronica Roth got sloppy and just threw this book together without giving it much thought. After watching the trailer, I can kind of see the sloppiness. Though, this won't stop me from watching the movie. I don't think I'll finish reading the series but I would like to finish it by watching the movies.

All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

Title: All The Bright Places

 Author: Jennifer Niven

Publisher: Knopf Books for Young Readers

 Date Published: January 6th, 2015

 Genre: Contemporary,

 Pages: 400 (Hardcover)

 Age Range: 15+

                                                                          Summary:

Theodore Finch is fascinated by death, and he constantly thinks of ways he might kill himself. But each time, something good, no matter how small, stops him.
Violet Markey lives for the future, counting the days until graduation, when she can escape her Indiana town and her aching grief in the wake of her sister’s recent death.
When Finch and Violet meet on the ledge of the bell tower at school, it’s unclear who saves whom. And when they pair up on a project to discover the “natural wonders” of their state, both Finch and Violet make more important discoveries: It’s only with Violet that Finch can be himself—a weird, funny, live-out-loud guy who’s not such a freak after all. And it’s only with Finch that Violet can forget to count away the days and start living them. But as Violet’s world grows, Finch’s begins to shrink.

                                                                           Review:

This book has been incredibly hyped since its release around half a year ago. Honestly, the hype hasn't really died down ever since- which is a little terrifying. I always read hyped books with a grain of salt, ready to be disappointed or caught up in the hype. Usually, I am pleasantly surprised; this book, though, blows everything that I have ever read out of the water. Per the usual, I will try to be very non-spoilery, however, there will be spoilers later on in this review.
The cover of this book is sickeningly adorable, and I will admit to some cover lust. Just look at its cuteness!! Cover aside, this book was very raw, and unrelenting. The way it dealt with problems like depression, bipolar disorder, and eating disorders was amazing. Jennifer Niven did such a great job with these heavy subjects because she didn't shy away from the harsh realities, and she certainly didn't make this a mindless read. The heavier topics were met head on, they weren't romanticized in any way, they weren't glossed over, and the true consequences of these problems being ignored was prominent.
Violet and Finch were both great characters, and polar opposites. While Violet was the example of defeating her depression, and rising above it, Finch is the example of becoming his disorder at times. Both characters could seem very superficial at times, but teenagers are superficial sometimes- all of us are. All of the minor characters in this book were just that- minor to a fault. I can remember names of certain characters, but none of them really stuck out as important, or as individuals, except for Amanda. Finch's mom was your typical, absent YA parent trope, while Violet's parents were the opposite. I actually really liked Violet's parents. Finch's father's new family was so absent that I couldn't really bring myself to form an opinion about them. Decca and Kate, while pretty minor, really got on my good side. One of my favorite parts of the book was where Finch was crafting with Decca and he was trying to teach her that there is beauty in nasty words.
And now, things are going to get very spoilery. Trust me when I say that this is a book that you do not want spoiled for you.
So, first, I actually never saw Finch having bipolar disorder. Looking back, it makes perfect sense, but I actually thought that he had some kind of brain trauma from being abused by his father that was making him spaz out. I thought that his brain trauma was pairing with some major depression to make him flip out. Of course, it turns out that he has bipolar disorder instead. And I knew that Violet was majorly depressed because it is stated pretty early on.
The book was so mean in the way that things that really hopeful and happy around the middle, around the peak. I truly believed that we were gonna have a happy, hopeful ending. Then Finch disappeared, and I freaked out. As much as I hate to say this, I'm glad Finch died. Yes, I loved him, but untreated mental issues are not a joking matter, and there are repercussions from that decision. Out of all the messages that Finch sent to his friends and family, Decca's was my favorite, and that is when I started to cry. After that, I cried pretty steadily until the book ended.
I hate to be that person, but the book got a little too drawn out near the end. I got a little bored with the ending a few pages before it ended, and that is the testament of a good writer. The fact that I was about to be lost, right as it was ended.
A little, tiny part of me wants an epilogue so that we can check in on Violet a few years down the road. But mostly, I am pretty happy.

Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children Movie

Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children has been taken up by TIM BURTON for a movie adaptation. TIM BURTON. Please let that sink in. I wasn't a huge fan of the book, and couldn't even finish book two, but since TIM BURTON has his hands on the film, I have to see it!! Without further ado, here's our cast.

This lil' cutie is our lead Jacob Portman. Asa Butterfiled has been in Hugo (a truly splendid movie), Ender's Game (yet another great movie), and the Boy In The Striped Pajamas. He's been a large slew of other things, but so far, I really like his acting career. I am very excited to watch him play Jacob.

This rather gorgeous lady, is our Miss Peregrine. Eva Green has been in The Dreamers, Casino Royale, and Perfect Sense. I have never seen her act before, but who hasn't heard of Eva Green. I don't think she looks old enough to be Miss Peregrine, but I shall refrain from judgement.

This stunning beauty girl is our Emma Bloom. Ella Purnell has been in Maleficent, Wildlike, and Intruders. Again, I have never seen this girl act, but I don't think she looks like an Emma. I imagined Emma being less stunning, and more of a plain Jane.

I'm not ecstatic about the casting, but it's TIM BURTON. I WILL SEE THIS.

Ugly Love Teaser Trailer

The teaser trailer for Ugly Love has been released!!! FINALLY!

I wasn't a huge fan of the book and it wasn't my favorite Colleen Hoover book, but I still thought it was well written with an original-ish story line with a unique style of writing whenever it went back to Archer's past. Regardless, I will be going to see this movie!

The Mortal Instruments Drama "Shadowhunters" Coming to ABC Family

It's finally been announced! That's right, it's official........The Mortal Instruments is going to be a TV show!!!

I'm so happy! I totally can't wait!!

My only hope is that it's good, not cheesy and stupid, and made to amuse teenage girls. I don't want it to turn out like the Twilight saga. I mean, the movies were okay (and I mean, just okay). The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones movie was really, really, REALLY awful. The movie was more focused on demons and creepiness than it was on developing the characters and showing off the Shadowhunter world--which is the reason why everyone loves this series so much.

Anyway, I'm excited for this! I just hope they do it right, start from the very beginning instead of starting back up where the movie left off. I don't think they will start up where the movie left off, but there have been a few rumors going around.

And then, of course, I hope the cast is good. I hope everyone looks the part, and Clary has red hair like she's supposed to because in the movie Lily Colin's hair was not the fiery red that everyone was expecting, and everyone acts the part and is able to pull off their character.

  Title: Paper Towns
  Author: (The) John Green
  Publisher: Speak
  Date Published: September 22nd, 2009
Genre: The John Green Genre, Contemporary
  Pages: 336 (paperback)
  Age Range: 14+

                  Summary:

When Margo Roth Spiegelman beckons Quentin Jacobsen in the middle of the night—dressed like a ninja and plotting an ingenious campaign of revenge—he follows her. Margo’s always planned extravagantly, and, until now, she’s always planned solo. After a lifetime of loving Margo from afar, things are finally looking up for Q . . . until day breaks and she has vanished. Always an enigma, Margo has now become a mystery. But there are clues. And they’re for Q.

                                                       Review:

I know, I know. I haven't read everything that John Green has breathed on, I'm a terrible fan. Still, I picked up this book because I want to see the movie, but I HAVE to read the book first. Initial thoughts? I really like the cover, I like Quentin and his open disgust for prom, and I actually really love Ben and Radar. After I read the book, things just fell a little flat.
First, I didn't like Margo. Yeah, she had some amazing, quotable lines, but she wasn't good enough. She was selfish, flighty, whiny, and came across as a bad person. She had everything that she could ever desire, and instead, she threw it away so she could pretend to be "poor and rough it up". I really didn't like her, and even though she was the whole point of the book, she was such a minor character. I loved our lead, Quentin. He was so funny and raw and he had a lot of funny quirks. Ben and Radar were such good friends, with awesome personalities. Lacey was one of my favorite characters. I was NOT expecting her to be so... nice and perfect.
I didn't like that we went searching for Margo. We threw everything away for Margo (even graduation), and in the end... I don't want to spoil it, but that ending was so disappointing. The car trip was hilarious, though. Ben and his inability to hold his urine for more than two minutes, Quentin's energy-drinking, Lacey's maternal qualities, the COWS, and the beer! They were all ingredients that added to a perfect road trip.
Things worked out a little too perfectly. Like the fact that the holes in the wall lined up AMAZINGLY to a map, and the comment on Omnictionary, and the door. Things just worked out way too easily sometimes. And I expected Radar and Ben and Lacey to put up a fight about somethings, and when they didn't, I was surprised. ALSO, HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT EVERYONE'S PARENTS WERE SO OBLIVIOUS??? Honestly, they were such awful parents for being so absent, and blind.
I enjoyed a majority of the story, but the things that I didn't like were too big to ignore. Next, I'll read Looking For Alaska by John Green, and then I think I've properly read every book of his. This book does not ruin my love of John Green. I would love him even if he didn't write amazingly well, because he is such a good person. DFTBA, everyone.
