I wasn't a huge fan of the book and it wasn't my favorite Colleen Hoover book, but I still thought it was well written with an original-ish story line with a unique style of writing whenever it went back to Archer's past. Regardless, I will be going to see this movie!

Yes, yes, I know. I said I wasn't going to read another Colleen Hoover book. I made an exception for this one. When I heard about this book, I had to get my hands on it. I read it in 2 days. I just couldn't put it down!

There were so many things I enjoyed about this book! I don't even know where to begin.
 I've been taking sign language for over a year (I love it!) and I'm obsessed with the ABC Family show, Switched at Birth, so I had to read this book.

The writing was fantastic! I don't know if Colleen Hoover has a deaf relative or what but she wrote about Ridge's deafness really well. I liked how Ridge and Sydney texted to communicate. Sometimes they didn't even need to text. Sometimes they'd just exchange a look. It was really, really interesting. The whole book was interesting and romantic and sweet and devastating at the same time. 
Ridge and Sydney are so sweet and honest and perfect for each other. I felt bad for Maggie, but I wanted her out of the picture anyway lol.

I liked how Sydney found out Ridge was deaf--it was kinda funny. Syd got all pissy about him ignoring her and she walked away. He tells her and she's all upset and texts him, "Why didn't you tell me you were deaf?"
"Ridge: Why didn't you tell me you could hear?"
That shut her up.

My. Goodness. When Ridge laid his head against Sydney's chest to "listen" to her sing....I melted. I was a puddle. They just communicated so well and honestly...it was just so intimate. And it scared the crap out of them. He was completely torn up about Sydney and Maggie.

I really enjoyed when Hunter came to apologize to Syd and win her back. Ridge got all jealous, and angry at both of them because he knew Hunter was there to try to get her back and he was worried Sydney would. I only wish that Tori would have apologized like Hunter, because that whole thing seemed unfinished to me.

WHEN RIDGE SPOKE TO HER FOR THE FIRST TIME!! I had to put the book down for a minute to collect my thoughts because that was just such a perfect moment. I was hoping he would speak--just once. Even though he told Sydney the reason why he doesn't, I really wanted him to. And he did!

I loved how they didn't hold back their music. Sydney wrote the lyrics that she wanted--the lyrics that came from her heart. And Ridge did the same. Regardless that they both would know it was about the other. Whenever they wrote music together, it was sweet; yet dangerous. They were cautious but they didn't really want to be cautious, even after the kiss.

And when she signed "when"....."OH MY GOSH, SHE SIGNED WHEN! FINALLY!" Perfect ending.

 Review

So, I decided to buy a few Colleen Hoover books and give em a chance. I bought 3 of her books off of recommendations without even reading their summaries, deciding to see what everyone is talking about. I'm sorry to say that I really don't see what all the fuss is about with her books. I guess I get it from the point that it's pretty much all about sex, but I've read better books with the same amount of sexual content.

The writing wasn't all that great, the characters didn't seem to have much of a personality to me. I mean, yes, a bunch of tragic stuff happened to Miles. I felt his pain. Every emotion he had really when it read from his perspective.

I didn't really feel Tate's emotions though, which was unfortunate, considering that most of the book was in her perspective. She was a bland character that fell for a guy too hard, too fast. And when she didn't even know him! She didn't know anything about Miles but she fell for him anyway! She basically got wrapped up in a sexual relationship with this guy, knew nothing about him and somehow ended up falling in love with him. I was severely disappointed with this female character.

I liked Miles back story. I liked how the chapters jumped from Miles past to Tate's perspective on the present. I really liked how emotional Miles was; it was just raw. I could feel everything he was feeling. It was so sad. Why he fell in love with a girl that has such a bland personality, I don't know.

I was disappointed with this whole book in general really. I was kind of disappointed with Hopeless too. So far, Colleen Hoover's books haven't impressed me. Hopeless I let slide because it was on a subject that should be written about more often but this book.....I can't let it slide.

I was in a reading slump before I read this book. After about 15 pages in, I became hooked. This book is funny, intense, romantic, tragic and gripping. I couldn't put it down! The description is right; this book really leave you breathless and entranced. I couldn't put this book down!

The writing is good, the story is gripping and the characters are fantastic! The story is so sad....It's so tragic. But it is displayed perfectly. The main character, Sky, really struggled with her past, making it believable in the sense of how her situation should be displayed.

Now, let's talk about Holder a little...Sky's smoldering, hot tempered, passionate, and caring boyfriend. He's so protective and caring for Sky, but also secretive. I loved how he was there for her throughout the whole thing (even though he kept a big part of it from her before the whole thing blew over).

I also loved Breckin, and wished he was mentioned in the book more because he was very comical. My favorite quote from him is, "If you haven't deduced from my impeccable fashion sense, I think it's safe to sat that I'm . . . Mormon." (He whispers the last word).

I was really happy about how everything was displayed, planned out, and set up. It was all perfect. I could really feel what the characters were feeling. The whole book was very personal and emotional. The struggles with suicide, depression, and sexual abuse was emphasized to the point that it should be.

I hate giving too much away because I don't want to spoil it for anyone, so I'm going to leave this review as it is.

 Review

This sequel is told from Lucas/Landon's perspective. You get to read about the years after his mother's brutal murderer: How he copes with what happened, how his father deals with the loss, and how the loss of his mother affects him throughout the years.

This book jumps between him being Landon and Lucas ("Lucas" being the present, and "Landon" being the past). It is a companion book to Easy, so you get to read about what's going on through his head once he takes notice to Jacqueline Wallace.

The writing is good, the characters are good. Though I feel like there is only a small connection between Lucas and Jacqueline, the rest seems completely physical.

The author also could have taken this book to bigger places with the subject of rape, making it more personal (even in the first book, there wasn't much emphasizing on this subject and how it really affects), and realistically emotional. The main focus was Lucas' and Jacqueline's relationship when she should have balanced the book with how Jacqueline deals with what "almost happened" to her (in both books). Tammara Webber doesn't even take the chance when Buck strikes a second time on another girl and succeeds in his intentions.

The strongest subject in this book is Mrs. Maxfield's murder and how Lucas deals with it over the years.

In the end, I feel like Jacqueline and Lucas really have a connection that is much more than physical, but it isn't dwelt on.
