Review


This book was quirky and jumpy and fun. I really liked how jumpy the story-line was. How one thing would happen in one chapter, and then it could be days, or weeks, or months later when the next chapter begins.

This book was very stereotypical; yet not really at the same time. It fit the book perfectly because of the characters. The characters were fun and different and quirky. Their personalities shined whenever the group was together because they would play off of each other. They were good, close friends that you'd never think would grow apart.

That's why it made me upset that everyone kind of went their separate ways after graduation. I mean, sure it happens, but I didn't want this group of friends to grow apart. Though, Autumn had a good reason not to want to hang out with the whole gang anymore.

Kinda SPOILER-Y

I knew Jamie was going to end it with Autumn at the end of the book, but I think the way he did it was cruel. He didn't have to say those things to her. Why would he tell her that he's tired of caring for her and giving her attention? That's what relationships are and if you can't last with Autumn, you probably won't last with Sasha either, bud.

WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS

I also knew that Finny was going to get into some-sort of car accident right after him and Autumn officially got together and die. Who wouldn't see that coming after reading the very first chapter of the book, right?

Well, he does get in a car accident. But he didn't die.

Instead, the author shocks me (ha, pun intended) and electrocutes Finny....

That's right, folks, electrocuted. He gets in a car crash with Sy--who gets shot out the front window-- and when he goes to help her, he doesn't see that she's in a puddle and that there's a wire in the puddle by her head so when he reaches for her....ZAP!

What a mean way to kill off a character, though original and shocking.

I have to admit that I laughed. But then I cried a few tears when Autumn found out that he was dead and tried to kill herself.

Anyway, this was a fun read. I really enjoyed the characters, and it was a nice, quick read. I'd definitely recommend this. (Thank you, Nadia for recommending it to me). Though this book wasn't as sad as if i stay by Gayle Forman, it was still sad and almost as good a read (sorry, if i stay is one of my FAVS lol). Add this book to your summer to-read list! You won't regret it :)

Top-5 Book Covers

   Here are my Top-5 book covers :)

   Frankly, I judge books by their covers. I know, it's something that we are constantly told not to do- but some of the best books that I have read have the most gorgeous covers. So without further ado, here is my list of top five book covers. Here are the guidelines for my list: 1) if a whole series has beautiful covers, I have to pick my favorite cover to represent that series. 2) The covers have to be from YA books (obviously). 3) These are just my favorites. 4) My favorite coves are not necessarily my favorite books. 5) The list starts from one (my favorite) and goes to five (my least favorite).

Cover #1: Rebel Belle by RachelHawkins. Let's just start with obvious: This cover is so pretty and pink! The pastel shade of pink looks so sassy on my black bookshelves and it makes me so happy! :) The necklace and knife pretty much envelope what the book is all about- it's simplistic, cute, and actually really pretty in a girly way.

Cover #2: To All The Boys I've LovedBefore by Jenny Han. Now, yes, I do wonder why there is a disco ball on the plant in the corner, but, ignoring that, this cover is fun. It looks a lot like a generic teenager girl's room, and the font is actually really pretty. A lot like Rebel Belle, the cover envelopes the gist of this book. The girl on the cover is gorgeous (!!!) and she looks a lot like I envisioned Lara Jean looking as she wrote her love letters.

Cover #3: The Madman's DaughterSeries by Megan Shepherd. I have to pick just one cover so my favorite one is: Her Dark Curiosity. This cover is dark and brooding, a lot like the book. The really simple shot of the girl in the dress is exquisite because: 1) I want that dress right now and 2) I want that girl's hair right now. Over-all, it's just a pretty cover and it was the wallpaper on my phone for the longest time.

Cover #4: Ruby Red Series by KerstinGier. My favorite one of these covers is Sapphire Blue. All of these covers were absolutely breath-taking and Sapphire Blue was like the icing on the cake. The cover is the most gorgeous shade of blue, and the picture on it is so pretty and old-fashioned. This one sort of leaves a lot lacking in summing up the book. Like, the other covers sum up the over-all theme of the book, but Sapphire Blue is lacking in this department somewhat. Both the hardcover and paperback versions of these books are lovely.

Cover #5: Cinder Series by Marissa Meyer. My favorite of this series is Cress. This cover is really pretty and it sums up the over-all gist of the book, however, it's only a half-picture and that annoys me sometimes. Anyway, the hair and girl on this book, automatically told me who this book was about- which I loved- without giving anything else away.

8 Books to Read This Summer (2014)

Here are 8 books to read this summer.

 1. The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han. This is one of my all-time favorite books. The series is amazing, gripping, and sweet, but also tragic. It has a smorgasbord of cutsey characters to fall in love with. And this book made me fall in love with Summer in a way I never have before.

 2. To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han. Yes, another novel by Jenny Han. A really sweet, family-based novel that will keep you wondering until the very end.

 3. The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. A sad, sweet, romantic novel about two teens that have cancer. It's funny, sad, and then funny again. This book has many emotional twists and turns; one minute you'll be laughing at something one of the character's say, and then, you'll want to cry. The movie is to be released June 6th, so read it before you see it!

 4. if i stay by Gayle Forman. I know, not exactly a summer read, but the movie is coming in August and you might want to read it before you see it. Again, sweet romance mixed with tragedy, but it's a gripping novel with an exhilarating ending. It was such a perfect book that I bought it and reread it about four times that week. It's a cute book about love and life, and most importantly, hope.

 5. First Love by James Patterson. Another sweet, but tragic, novel about two teens on the run from their problems.

 6. Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins. It's a quick, easy read. It had me laughing throughout with it's quirky and silly prose. It's a very easy read (I read it in two hours). It censors the language for the most part, there is only a couple kisses through the book, and it's readable for any teen!

 7. Summer of my German Soldier by Bette Greene. is an old book, but it is worth doing a little searching for. It is an amazing story of hope and sacrifice for the greater good. This book is a heavy book, a book filled with emotion and tabulations, but it worth every tear shed.

 8. Born at Midnight by C.C. Hunter. A humorous, quirky, fun read that is perfect for summer. It's about a girl who is sent away to a special summer camp to learn how to use her abilities and realize what she is. There are many funny parts throughout this book--one minute it can be some-what serious and then, the next, someone is making a joke or something happens that is just so random and funny.
