Summary

Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what's normal when you're a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who's becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn't ready to let her go — especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace. And Clary's only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil — and also her father.

To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children. Is Valentine behind the killings — and if he is, what is he trying to do? When the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor arrives to investigate and zooms right in on Jace. How can Clary stop Valentine if Jace is willing to betray everything he believes in to help their father?

Review

Sometimes as a series drags on the writing gets bad and the story gets less interesting, or this can happen in just the second (or third) book. A good bit of writer's have this problem, but it was obvious that City of Ashes isn't one of those books. Cassandra Clare's writing was just as wonderful as the second, and the story was just as gripping. I was very pleased!

Cassandra Clare's imagination must have been running wild as she wrote this series 'cause it is amazing, gripping, compelling, and heart pounding.

This quote from the publisher, "A gorgeous fantasty that's so good, it's dangerous." - (Holly Black) is dead-on! This book is so amazing it's dangerous! I haven't been this excited about a series in a long time.

Like I said in the book review for the first book (City of Bones by Cassandra Clare) I am so excited about the movie that comes out August 23rd! I have been posting trailers when they come out, stills (pictures), and posters for the movie! Totally excited, I hope they do well with the movie.

Jace is getting more intense and open with his emotions and actions as he struggles to fight them. Simon is just as adorable as a vampire as he was when he was a mundane. Clary is starting to discover her abilities and realize how strong she is. The main character's are just getting better and better as they come closer together.
